The Toyota C-HR's low running costs and good equipment levels partly make up for its relatively high price tag, but its ride, handling and practicality are not as good as the best small SUV rivals'. If you do buy a C-HR, we think the 1.8-litre regular hybrid in Design trim is the best choice.
This has the same 2.0-litre engine as the regular hybrid, but also gets a more power and a bigger battery. It’s the quickest C-HR in the line-up and offers an official electric range of 41 miles. It’s pricey, though, so we’d recommend sticking with the still very frugal regular hybrid versions.
