Is a used GENESIS GV60 estate reliable?
The GV60 finished in ninth place out of 16 cars in the electric SUV category of our latest What Car? Reliability Survey, with a score of 90.9%. That’s not as good as the Tesla Model Y, which came first in the survey with a score of 99.2%, but it was significantly better than the VW ID 4, which only managed a score of 82.3%.
While the GV60's fault rate was pretty high at 29%, owners didn’t have to cover the cost of repairs because cars were still under warranty. Problems with the sat-nav/infotainment system were the biggest headache, while some owners also mentioned problems with their cars' air-con, bodywork and non-motor electrics.
Genesis as a brand didn’t feature in the manufacturer section of our survey, but Hyundai and Kia – Genesis’s sister brands – did, finishing in 10th and 11th place respectively. That’s below BMW (eighth), but above Tesla (15th), Volkswagen (18th) and Mercedes (22nd).
Used Genesis GV60 reliability: the owners’ view
According to our latest Reliability Survey, Genesis GV60 owners shared mixed views on reliability and the quality of dealer service. Several owners praised the car’s reliability, reporting no faults in their ownership experience. However, others highlighted recurring issues, including problems with warning lights and intermittent electronic faults, which some found frustrating given the GV60’s premium positioning.
Feedback on dealer service was similarly varied. While a number of readers found Genesis's customer service attentive, others were less impressed. Some reported delays in sourcing replacement parts, which extended repair times significantly. One owner mentioned that their dealership struggled to diagnose and resolve an issue with the car’s infotainment system, requiring multiple visits to fix.
Overall, while many owners were satisfied, the inconsistency in both reliability and dealer service suggests room for improvement in addressing faults and resolving issues efficiently.
