The new Citroën C3 Aircross leaves little to be desired. True, the Renault Captur has a plusher interior and more flexible seating, but the C3 Aircross provides a level of comfort and space that more expensive cars sometimes struggle to match. The option of seven seats is a very compelling feather in its cap too.

Max adds some luxuries like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a wireless phone charger. It’s worth a look if you have the budget, but it’s not a must-have trim in our opinion.

This hybrid version uses the same 1.2-litre engine that you get in the Turbo 100. However, it gains a small electric motor and an automatic gearbox for better efficiency. It’s our engine of choice.
