Used Volvo EX30 2023-present reliability

Category: Electric SUV

The Volvo EX30 is a comfy small electric SUV that's good value when buying used. Its interior technology can be frustrating, though.

What should I look for in a used Volvo EX30 estate?

The Volvo EX30 has a lot of technology squeezed into it, so it’s worth diving into the screen to make sure everything works as it should. As always with any used car, you should also check the bodywork and alloy wheels for damage.

When viewing a used car, always follow our used car buying checklist.

What are the most common problems with a used Volvo EX30 estate?

The Volvo EX30 has just one recall listed so far. To check whether it has been carried out on an affected car, you can contact your local Volvo dealer. You will not need to pay for anything involving the recall.

Reason for recall

A software error has been identified in relation to the display. In rare cases this could cause the screen to enter a test mode during vehicle start-up which will prevent key information including the vehicle speed from being displayed.

How the manufacturer will repair: The solution is updated software available via OTA (over-the-air) or at a Volvo retailer.

Number of affected vehicles: 7569

Date of recall: 10/05/2024

Is a used Volvo EX30 estate reliable?

The EX30 is too new to have featured in the What Car? Reliability Survey, and because it’s built on new underpinnings, we can’t give you a steer on reliability from its sister models (such as the Smart #1, which also didn’t feature).

What we can tell you, though, is that Volvo finished in a respectable 12th place out of 31 brands in our car manufacturer reliability league table. That’s below BMW (eighth) and Hyundai (10th), but above Tesla (15th), Volkswagen (18th) and Audi (24th).
