The Tiguan Allspace has all the positive traits of the five-seat Tiguan but adds a bigger boot and two extra seats. It’s expensive, though, so we’d stick with the standard Tiguan unless you need seven seats.

It comes with everything that Life trim does but also adds 20in alloy wheels, R-Line exterior styling, keyless entry, a rear-view camera, heated sports style front seats, heated rear seats, independent rear climate control and wireless smartphone charging.
The engine
See full engine specsThe 2.0 TDI diesel offers 148bhp and is all that most people will need, offering plenty of low down shove and a good balance between economy and performance. You can have the 2.0 TDI 150 with either a DSG automatic or a manual gearbox. The automatic changes gears smoothly but can be hesitant when you pull off or need a sudden burst of power.
