Used Peugeot 508 2018-present reliability
Category: Executive car
The Peugeot 508 is stylish and good value used, but plenty of rivals are more practical and better to drive.
What should I look for in a used Peugeot 508 hatchback?
The 508 interior is full of nice soft-touch materials, but check that these haven’t been stained by family use. Check the operation of all the seats. Look at the electrical equipment, too. It’s a large car and will have been used in tight city centre car parks, so look out for dents and scuffs to the front wings and rear boot. Also check the alloy wheels for kerb damage.
Reported problems with this model have been remarkably few. It’s worth checking all the non-engine electricals, though, because this is the area where a number of faults have been recorded on similar Peugeots.
recalls so far are as follows. Check with your local dealer that all remedial work has been carried out.
Reason for recall
The filtering performance of the Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) may not meet the required specification.
Certain rear suspension fixing bolts may not conform to specifications which could cause them to break.
The accessory roof rack for the Peugeot 508 saloon could detach from the vehicle if used to carry items other than a roof box.
The 508 didn't feature in our most recent What Car? Reliability Survey. Peugeot as a brand fared poorly in the reliability survey, however, finishing in 28th place out of 32 manufacturers.
