Stylish, practical and good to drive, the well-equipped 3008 is a highly recommendable family SUV. For most retail buyers, the 1.2 Hybrid 136 is the best choice, but the Hybrid4 plug-in hybrid model will offer significantly lower company car tax payments. There are better PHEV SUVs out there, though, and the Skoda Karoq is an even more practical alternative to the regular hybrid and diesel 3008.

We reckon mid-spec Allure trim is worth the extra, though. It adds a 10.in touchscreen infotainment system with sat nav, 18in alloys and a slightly posher interior. You also get extra safety including blind spot monitoring.

Our favourite engine is the 134bhp 1.2-litre petrol with 48V hybrid tech, which can run on electricity for short distances.
