Updated Phaeton revealed in Beijing

VW has revealed a revised version of its Phaeton luxury car at the Beijing motor show.

On sale in the UK from this August, the updated Phaeton has a different look at the front with a new bumper, grille and headlights with LED running lights.

The front wings and bonnet have also been resculpted, along with the rear bumper, while there are new alloy wheels.

Inside, there's a new steering wheel and electronic display, and the satellite-navigation system now has the option of displaying Google Maps.

Standard- and long-wheelbase versions will still be offered, along with the familiar 236bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel and 444bhp 6.0-litre W12 petrol.

Phaeton facts
VW says the four-zone climate control is capable of keeping the cabin of the Phaeton at a constant 22 degrees while cruising at 186mph in 50-degree ambient temperature.

It says 'this situation is unlikely to be encountered by the majority of drivers.'

The company has also gone to great lengths to measure the cables connecting all of the car's electronic systems together.

There are 2000 cables connecting 60 different units that, in total, stretch nearly two miles.
