Rolls-Royce cuts worker numbers

Rolls-Royce has become the latest car manufacturer to axe jobs, cutting 40 temporary workers in the face of a downturn in sales.
The company also announced that it has not ruled out extending its Christmas shutdown beyond the planned period from December 20 to January 12.
A statement from the company, which employs about 900 workers at its factory in Goodwood, West Sussex, said: 'We are beginning to see a softening in sales in a number of regions and as a consequence we are adjusting our production accordingly.'
The UK's new car sales figures for last month are set to be announced later this week, with estimates suggesting they are 20-25% down year-on-year.
Spain has already reported a 50% drop in sales year-on-year for November.
