The new Renault Megane hatchback goes on sale in July. Revealed late last year the new Megane is a rival for the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra and Seat Leon and is the fourth generation of Renault's hatchback.

Buyers will be able to choose from 25 versions based on six trim levels: Expression+, Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav, Signature Nav, GT-Line Nav and GT Nav.
The list of standard equipment on Expression+ cars includes cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, LED daytime running lights and a DAB radio.
Buyers can also specify extra safety systems like adaptive cruise control, Autonomous Emergency Braking and lane departure warning. Most models also get Renault's R-Link infotainment system, controlled via a touchscreen interface.
The Dynamique Nav trim level brings automatic headlights and wipers, as well as dual zone climate control, while Dynamique S Nav models get 17in alloy wheels, a rear parking camera and front and rear parking sensors. Higher up the range, Signature Nav models receive larger alloys and LED headlights, while GT-Line Nav cars get a subtle body kit, sports seats and new interior trim.

At the very top of the range, GT Nav cars receive a sportier handling package and two driving modes: Normal and Sport.
At launch, buyers can choose between four engines - two petrols and two diesels. The most efficient option, the dCi diesel 110, returns a claimed 76.4mpg with CO2 emissions of 96g/km. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard on most cars, but a six-speed automatic is also available. Next year, Renault will add a hybrid model to the range, alongside a more powerful diesel option.
Prices for the new Megane start from £16,600 and rise to £20,600. Compared with the Megane's key rivals, in particular the £16,245 Ford Focus and £15,295 Vauxhall Astra, the Renault Megane is the more expensive option. However, Renault dealers often offer sizeable discounts so it may be cheaper after haggling.

The Megane Sport Tourer estate, which was revealed in March, will go on sale later in 2016, and is expected to cost around £1000 more than the equivalent Megane hatchback, meaning a starting price of around £17,600 is likely.
