How to spec an Audi A4
Our guide to Audi's executive saloon covers which options to pick, which to avoid and how much to pay for it all...
If you're in the market for an executive saloon, chances are the Audi A4 is already on your shopping list. And as well it should be, because it's one of the very best new cars you can buy. After all, it's a former What Car? Car of the Year, and although it has since lost class honours to the current BMW 3 Series, it remains an exceptional all-rounder.
The A4 is available as a saloon, an estate (named the A4 Avant) and even a jacked-up pseudo-SUV (the A4 Allroad), and with a plethora of engine and trim combinations available, there's a version to suit everyone. The saloon is the biggest seller, however, and we recommend the 2.0-litre diesel option, badged 40 TDI.
Our full 16-point review can tell you what the A4 is like to drive, how spacious it is and how much it will cost you to run, but here we're going to be talking about equipment. If you go for our recommended Sport trim, you'll already have most of the equipment you'll want, including cruise control, front and rear parking sensors and sat-nav, but there's still room to add more luxury without breaking the bank – and that's useful if you'll be spending a lot of time in the car.
