The contenders for the inaugural Move Electric Awards in partnership with OVO Energy have been revealed, with six vehicles in contention for the Best Electric Car prize
The awards from What Car?’s new sister brand celebrate all forms of electric mobility, with prizes for the Best Electric Car, Electric Bike and Electric Motorbike, plus an award for the Best Use of Electricity. There will also be a range of special awards celebrating the people and companies that are helping to advance electric mobility.
Six cars have made the final shortlist for the Best Electric Car award: the BMW iX, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Polestar 2, Porsche Taycan and Skoda Enyaq.
BMW also has a finalist in the Best Electric Motorbike category, with its CE 04 making one of five shortlisted contenders. That list also includes the Seat MO, the first electric scooter from the VW Group brand. Those two machines are up against the Harley Davidson Livewire, Piaggio 1 Active and Super Soco TC Max.
The Best Electric Bike shortlist includes five contenders from the fast-growing e-bike market: the Canyon Grail:ON, Gocycle G4, Ribble Hybrid AL e, Tern GSD S10 and Whyte E-160 S.
The Best Use of Electricity award celebrated the diverse ways that electrification is shaping the world of mobility. There are seven contenders: electric van firm Arrival, electric surfboard company Awake, community initiative Carve Electric, off-road championship Extreme E, the Mercedes EQXX concept car, retailer Personal Electric Transport and pioneering electronic vertical take-off and landing firm Vertical.
