Mini Cooper 1.5 C Classic [Level 2] 3dr Auto Review

The model
Read full Mini Cooper reviewThe new Mini Cooper has its charms, being thoroughly stylish, powerful and – for the most part – good to drive. It has its flaws, but the Cooper has always appealed more to the heart than the head. Our favourite variant is the entry-level Cooper C. Sure, the Cooper S’s engine may be that bit stronger and smoother, but the S is no more fun or engaging to drive, unfortunately. What’s more, the C’s unit remains a treat.
The trim
See full equipmentYour entry-level trim covers the basics, such as climate control, cruise control, 16in alloy wheels and rear-view camera. We'd stick with this trim and opt for the Level 1 equipment pack – for creature comforts such as heated seats – rather than spending the money on a higher trim.
The engine
See full engine specsThe Cooper C gets this entry-level 1.5-litre petrol unit that produces 154bhp and delivers 0-62mph in 7.7sec. No matter the situation, it feels very punchy, making it our favourite option and one that almost makes the 2.0-litre Cooper S feel obsolete.
