Used Mercedes EQC 2019-2024 reliability
Category: Large Electric
The Mercedes EQC is a highly refined and tech-heavy SUV. It's become a highly intriguing used buy, too
What should I look for in a used Mercedes EQC 4x4?
When viewing a used car, always follow our used car buying checklist.
Make sure that any of the charge cables supplied with your potential purchase are in good condition and actually work, because they can be quite expensive to replace.
Other than that, you should make all the regular used car checks, such as seeing whether there's any damage to the bumpers and bodywork, examining the alloy wheels for serious kerb damage, and making sure the interior hasn't been trashed by the rigours of family life.
In the intro section, we mentioned the Airbalance interior perfumer. If your potential purchase has it, try and get the dealer to throw in a fresh atomiser as part of the deal because replacements (there are five fragrances to choose from) cost £56 each.
What are the most common problems with a used Mercedes EQC 4x4?
Driver's airbag: Some of the bolts securing the driver's airbag in place might be missing on early examples built up to 17 September 2019. Speak to your local Mercedes dealer to find out if your EQC is one of those affected by this recall.
Wiring harness for the power steering: A problem has been found with the wiring harness for the steering of some EQC's built between 12 December 2019 and 18 March 2020, and will require this wiring to be replaced by a technician at a Mercedes dealer. Find out from your local repair centre if your car is affected by this.
Defective bolt in the front axle: Early examples manufactured until 6 October 2019 may have a defective bolt in the front axle that isn't as durable as it should be. Speak with your Mercedes dealer for further information because this will need to be inspected by a technician to prevent issues in the future.
Seat backrest lock: The backrest lock of some EQC's constructed between 24 January 2020 and 9 March 2020 has been found to be defective. Speak to your Mercedes dealer to find out if your car is one of the ones affected by this recall.

Is a used Mercedes EQC 4x4 reliable?
The EQC didn't feature in our 2024 What Car? Reliability Survey, but Mercedes as a brand only managed a 22nd place result out of 31 manufacturers – it beat Audi and Land Rover, but fell short of BMW and Porsche.
The battery pack is backed up by a separate eight-year/100,000-mile warranty – which is the same as you'll get with a Jaguar I-Pace or Audi E-tron.
