This is a plug-in hybrid version of the CLE, combining a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a 25.4kWh battery. A combined output of 308bhp is available provided you have enough charge in the battery, which is good for a 0-62mph time of 6.3 seconds.

Mercedes CLE

The Mercedes CLE is a compelling choice as a comfortable, long-distance cruiser offered with a wide range of engines. The 300 is the one to go for, while the 300e plug-in hybrid is a unique coupe company car option if you don’t need outright practicality. The AMG CLE 53 offers great performance and usability but costs more than a similarly fast BMW M440i.
