The five-star Euro NCAP safety rating awarded to the regular Mercedes A-Class doesn't apply to this version, but safety should be strong. Automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring and driver attention monitoring are present on all models.

Unfortunately, Mercedes as a brand didn’t do particularly well in the latest What Car? Reliability Survey, ranking 23rd out of 32 manufacturers. The A45 isn't specifically referenced, although the regular A-Class didn’t do very well in the family car category. In a class of 37, it came in 34th place.
