Is a used Hyundai i10 hatchback reliable?
The current Hyundai i10 finished sixth out of 19 cars in the small car class in our 2023 What Car? Reliability Survey. Unfortunately, there were too few examples for it to feature in our latest 2024 survey, although we do have some owner feedback on the car (see below).
Hyundai as a brand ranked a very impressive 10th out of 31 car makers in the 2024 What Car? Reliability Survey. Its overall score was 93.5%, and this put it above rivals from Audi, Fiat, MG and Volkswagen, but below Citroen, Dacia, Honda and Suzuki.
Used Hyundai i10 reliability: the owners' view
As part of our annual Reliability Survey, What Car? readers reported largely positive experiences with the Hyundai i10.
Many praised its overall dependability, with only a handful of issues mentioned. The most common faults related to electrical components, including occasional warning lights and intermittent problems with the infotainment system. However, these were generally minor and did not affect the i10's drivability.
However, Hyundai’s dealer network received mixed feedback. While several owners found their local dealerships helpful and efficient, others reported delays in sourcing replacement parts, leading to longer-than-expected repair times. A few also mentioned that software-related faults required multiple visits to resolve.
Despite these issues, most owners were satisfied with the i10’s reliability, particularly its mechanical durability. With only a few minor faults reported, the i10 remains a strong choice for those seeking a dependable small car, though dealer service could be more consistent in addressing electronic issues.
