One of the best hot hatches to arrive in the past few years is now a sub-£25k used buy. With its awe-inspiring speed, driver engagement and rally car roots, the Toyota GR Yaris is tough to beat.
The trim
The Yaris is well equipped, even in entry-level Icon trim; you get climate control, auto lights and wipers, electric front windows, 16in alloy wheels, a reversing camera and 7.0in touchscreen infotainment system with a DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also a suite of safety tech including automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
The engine
Its 0-60mph time – 9.7 seconds – won’t set any lap records, but this regular hybrid petrol engine is super-economical. It doesn't struggle to get up to motorway speeds but is noisy if you put your foot down to get there.
