The Porsche 911 is a thrilling sports car and one that's remarkably easy to live with. Most will be well served by the entry-level Carrera, but stepping up to the Carrera T is well worth the extra – especially if you’re enticed by the prospect of a manual gearbox.

The S comes with all the kit the Carrera has but adds larger brakes and a limited-slip differential to deal with the added performance, while the biggest difference on the outside is the larger wheels.

The Carrera S comes with a more powerful version of the 3.0-litre engine, with 444bhp and the choice of a manual gearbox. If you shift gear yourself, the 0-62mph time is 4.2sec, but this drops to 3.7sec with the automatic. Opt for the Sport Chrono Package and this drops even further to 3.5sec. Top speed rises to 191mph.
