Zafira gets the Ecoflex treatment

Vauxhall's Zafira MPV is the latest model to get the green treatment in the form of this Ecoflex model.

Thanks to a new 108bhp 1.7-litre diesel engine and longer gearing, its average fuel economy is 53.3mpg, a 6.2mpg improvement over the 1.9 CDTi model.

CO2 emissions are just 139g/km, which means that the Ecoflex is the only Zafira to make Band C for Vehicle Excise Duty - meaning owners will pay just 120 a year in car tax. It's also four categories lower for company car tax than the 1.9 CDTi.

Vauxhall has now added Ecoflex models to the Agila, Corsa, Astra and Zafira ranges, with the Insignia version going on sale later this year.

Prices for the Zafira Ecoflex start at 17,310, a 100 premium over the equivalent 118bhp 1.9 CDTi model.
