The Sun reports that supermarket chain Morrisons has cut the price of its diesel by 3p to 99p-a-litre. The paper also reports that the other major supermarkets vowed to match the move with experts predicting the price-per-litre could fall even further. The Daily Mail reports that Fiat has admitted it may not survive the current economic downturn. Company boss Sergio Marchionne is reported as saying Fiat is too small to survive the global crisis alone. He is also quoted as saying that his company is looking for a partner to help guarantee its survival.

The Times reports that America's troubled car industry could receive Government cash by the beginning of next week. The final details were being added to a bail-out Bill that would see the industry receive a $15 billion (10 billion) loan.

The $15 billion lifeline that will soon be thrown to the US car industry will allow the 'big three' to stay solvent for the next three months, according to the Financial Times. The deal allows President-elect Obama and the car industry some breathing space to thrash out a longer-term rescue package.
