Used test: Audi Q7 vs Land Rover Discovery vs Volvo XC90: verdict
Three tremendous luxury SUVs that can be bought used for a fraction of their new price. But which one should be gracing your driveway? We have the answer...
Our verdict
Three great cars and, bought as here, at three great prices, too.
We love the XC90, but it’s the first to go here, despite being the cheapest. It’s classy and agile on the road, but road noise and its choppy ride let it down. There’s also the question of future depreciation.
The Discovery is the most expensive, and there’s a question mark over its reliability, but it’s hugely impressive. It’s brilliant off-road, as you’d expect, and it comes pretty close to the Q7 when it comes to refinement and comfort. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s the best equipped and likely to have the strongest residual values.
However, the Q7 beats it because it’s cheaper to buy and the classiest car here. It’s the most refined, the most comfortable and it has a much better infotainment system than the others, even better than the one in the latest Q7. It’s the best luxury SUV and it has very few faults.
