Used cars of the week: Estates sub-20k
* Roomy load-luggers for less than £20,000 * Real-world examples listed * All found through What Car?'s Approved Used scheme...
This week we've had a drive of the all-new Honda Civic Tourer. The estate version of the popular hatchback was designed with the European car market in mind and goes on sale in February 2014, priced from £20,265.
That sort of money goes a long way in the used car arena. For £20,000 you can find a variety of premium estate cars that are even more spacious than the Honda Civic Tourer.
Here's our pick of the best we've found in the What Car? Approved used classifieds:
Audi A6 Avant
The A6 Avant's cabin is a great place to be. It's comfortable, well appointed and the level of specification is very impressive. This 2.0 TDI SE is our pick of the range. It averages 56.5mpg and emits just 132g/km of CO2, which make it remarkably cheap to run. To top it all, it's got a 565-litre boot. You can buy this '12/12 model with 20,000 miles on the clock for £19,850.
BMW 5 Series Touring
BMW's big estate is one of the best available. It's practical, comfortable and stylish; it also offers a 500-litre boot. This 2010 520d M Sport Business Edition model has an automatic gearbox and has done 48,000 miles. It is on sale for just £15,925. That's a lot of car for the money.
Mercedes E-Class Estate
The E-Class Estate is the quintessential premium estate car. Five can travel in comfort and the boot can hold all their luggage. This 2010 E250 CDI Blueefficiency Sport model has 33,000 miles on the clock and can be yours for £19,000; a great price for a great car.
Volvo V70
A roundup of estates wouldn't be complete without at least one Volvo. This 2011 Volvo V70 D3 SE has covered 30,000 miles and is on the market for £17,990. It's got our favourite engine in the range and a great specification that includes alloy wheels, Bluetooth, and cruise control, as well as a 570-litre boot.
