Suzuki IV-4 concept SUV unveiled
* Suzuki concept is rival for Captur, Juke and 2008 * Compact SUV will have four-wheel drive * Production version to launch in 2015...
This is the Suzuki IV-4, a new SUV concept which has been unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show. Suzuki released two teaser photos of the IV-4 in July, but this is the first time it has been seen in detail.
The IV-4 is a five-door compact SUV to rival the likes of the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur. The production version will have the ALLGRIP four-wheel-drive system that’s already been seen on the new SX4 S-Cross model.
The clamshell bonnet, five-piece grille and curved lights in the IV-4’s front bumper are carried over from the XA Alpha concept car, shown by Suzuki's Indian subsidiary at the 2012 New Delhi motor show.
Suzuki believes the IV-4’s ‘tough and rugged’ styling will set it apart in the compact SUV segment, as well as a four-wheel-drive setup that promises genuine off-road ability. It will offer similar levels of interior and exterior personalisation as the Renault Captur.
The IV-4 will be one of three new Suzukis appearing in the next three years. The first arrival is a replacement for the Alto and Splash, which will launch in 2014. The all-new city car is expected to have CO2 emissions from just 80g/km and to cost from £8000.
The second launch will be the compact SUV based on the IV-4, which will be manufactured in Hungary from 2015. Finally, a replacement for the Swift hatchback will appear in 2016.
