Seat Ateca 2.0 TDI 190 4Drive 2017 verdict and specs

Should I buy one?

If you’re after a stylish yet practical SUV with an impressive level of performance, you should certainly consider a Seat Ateca - but we wouldn't recommend this particular model.

You see, the most powerful Ateca is a victim of its cheaper siblings' abilities. If you’re a company car buyer, the cheaper 2.0 TDI 150 offers virtually the same level of flexibility, is more efficient (especially in front-wheel drive configuration) and comes with the option of a more involving manual gearbox.

Private buyers, on the other hand, are better off with the utterly brilliant 1.4 TSI petrol engine. It’s punchy, smooth, relatively efficient and significantly cheaper than any of the diesels.
