5 October 2023 - Keeping your cool

Over the years, dual-zone climate control has prevented a lot of arguments in the Huntingford household, given that my wife likes the interior of a car to be toasty warm, whereas I prefer it to be refreshingly cool. However, these days it’s no longer enough, because my wife tends to sit behind me so she can keep our daughter company in the back.

Fortunately, my Range Rover Sport is still able to contribute to marital harmony, due to it having a four-zone climate system. And it’s not just the two of us that are grateful for this set-up.

No, our daughter is also a big fan of being able to select her own temperature. And this is despite the fact the location of the rear temperature controls, on the back of the centre console, isn’t ideal for her; the only way she can adjust them once she’s strapped into her child seat is with an outstretched foot.

On the other hand, the adjustable vent that the air comes out of is well within her reach, being positioned just above the side window. And being oh-so-independent, she also likes that she can switch on the adjacent reading light without having to ask for help.
