Given its name, you might expect the Nissan X-Trail to be engineered purely for off-road action. But this spacious seven-seat SUV is just as comfortable cruising on the motorway, or tackling narrow city streets.

The X-Trail is brimming with technology and driver assistance features intended to make driving it a breeze. Those systems include the intelligent optional All-Mode 4x4-i system, which automatically sends power and torque to the wheels that need it most – 30 times quicker than the blink of an eye.

It’s intuitive, intelligent technology that makes driving – whether on- or off-road – safer and more enjoyable. To show how it works, we put the X-Trail through a series of challenges. Watch this video to see what happened.

In normal conditions, the X-Trail’s All-Mode 4x4-i system runs in front-wheel-drive mode to maximise fuel economy. But when grip levels falls due to snow, ice, mud or other adverse conditions, it adjusts the power and torque going to each wheel to ensure the car remains balanced.

That system combines with other driver-assistance options, including Active Trace Control and Active Ride Control, to ensure the drive has full control at all times.

There are numerous other systems available that make driving even easier, including an Around View Monitor and Park Assist. That’s because the technology packed into the X-Trail ensures that, regardless of whether you’re negotiating the school run in the city or traversing a muddy country lane, you’re always in control.
