Nissan Cube to be sold in UK
* Stylish city car coming to the UK * Expected on sale in November 2009 * Diesel and petrol engine choices...
Here is the first picture of the funky Nissan Cube supermini, which is scheduled to go on sale in the UK next November.
The Cube will be sold in Europe with two engines: a 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol. No performance or emissions figures have been released.
Nissan describes the Cube's abundance of right angles and glass as giving it the look of 'a bulldog in sunglasses' and says that it expects the car to appeal to style-conscious buyers. Certainly that is the case in Japan, where the Cube has achieved a cult status since first being sold in 2002.
Adding to this appeal will be a series of personalisation options, which will allow buyers to pick between glass roof designs and body stickers.
The interior has space for five, with two individual front seats and a sofa style bench across the back. The rear seat slides to three positions and is higher-set than the front seats, allowing passengers to see out of the front of the car.
The Cube's practicality is backed up by an abundance of cup and bottle holders, storage spaces and multi-hooks for holding bags in place.
'The designers, engineers and planners' effort and passion in creating the next generation of Cube was unheard of perhaps only exceeded in recent memory by that of the Nissan GT-R development team,' says Pierre Loing, Nissan's European President for Product Planning.
No prices have been released.
