New Mini Paceman JCW revealed
* Mini Paceman John Cooper Works model * Four-wheel drive; 215bhp engine * On sale from March, for 29,535...
This is the new Mini Paceman John Cooper Works, the fastest version yet of Mini's larger coupe model.
The Mini Paceman JCW gets a tuned version of Mini's four-cylinder, 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 215bhp and 207lb ft (221lb ft on overboost).
As with its sister car, the Countryman, the Paceman's performance model will be offered with four-wheel drive only although a six-speed automatic transmission can be chosen in place of the standard six-speed manual.
Regardless of which gearbox is fitted, the Paceman JCW can reach 62mph from rest in 6.9 seconds. The manual car's top speed is 140mph, while the auto can reach 139mph.
Engine stop-start and brake-energy-regeneration systems are fitted as standard on the manual model, which averages 38.2mpg and emits 172g/km of CO2. As you might expect, the auto is less efficient, at 35.8mpg and 184g/km.
The standard kit list includes lowered sports suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, a sports exhaust with chrome tailpipes, and John Cooper Works detailing on the door sills. There's also a Sports mode, which quickens the throttle and steering response.
Inside, there's red detailing, piano black finish on the fascia, a sports steering wheel and two individual rear seats.
Prices for the Mini Paceman John Cooper Works start at 29,535, and it goes on sale in the UK in March.
