New MG4 EV vs used Hyundai Ioniq 5: practicality
As a new car, the incredibly well priced MG 4 is one of our favourite electric models, but would you be better off buying a used example of the plusher Hyundai Ioniq 5 for similar money?...
Space and practicality
Front space, rear space, seating flexibility, boot
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has more head and leg room in the front, but even taller individuals shouldn't find the MG4 cramped. It's the same story in the back seats.
Still, the Ioniq 5 still has an advantage in the space race, especially when it comes to rear leg room. When its reclining seats (the MG4 doesn't have such a feature) are pushed all the way back, there's 95mm more space in the Ioniq 5. Sitting three abreast is much easier too, because its rear seating area is 70mm wider.
It also has 164 litres more boot space than its smaller rival. In other words, it gets a Honda e boot's worth of extra capacity. That includes the small storage compartment under its bonnet. The MG4 doesn't have one of those, but it does have handy height-adjustable boot, which its rival doesn't have.
