New Audi Q8 e-tron vs BMW iX vs Jaguar I-Pace: verdict
Any of these luxurious electric SUVs would be great to spend a little time with – but which should you buy? Let’s find out...
Our verdict
Despite finishing last in this test, the I-Pace remains a worthy contender that’s quick and enjoyable to drive, while being by far the cheapest to buy and run. But in this company, its interior lacks that final degree of opulence and serenity, while its range and charging speed trail those of the class best.
Separating the others is a tougher task. The Q8 e-tron offers a superb ride and handling balance and its interior feels very classy. It’s just a shame it can’t make better use of its huge battery, due to its poor efficiency. The Q8 makes more sense in
S line trim, where you get to enjoy all of its strengths for a sigificantly lower price.
In contrast, the iX is at its very best in this high-end guise, combining dizzying performance and a gorgeous interior with exceptional cruising comfort and refinement. Having the most generous range makes it a great long-distance option, too. At this price point, the iX is still the electric SUV benchmark.
