Mini John Cooper Works Concept to be shown at Detroit
* New Mini JCW Concept to appear at Detroit show * Close to a production version * Expected to feature a tuned 2.0-litre petrol engine...
A John Cooper Works concept version of the new Mini hatchback will appear at the Detroit motor show in January.
The JCW Concept is based on the forthcoming version of the Mini hatchback. This new model has a longer wheelbase and wider track than the previous-generation car.
There are no technical details available on the JCW Concept, but it is expected to come with a tuned version of the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that features in the new Mini Cooper S. This engine produces 192bhp in the S, and the JCW will have significantly more than this.
The JCW gets a bespoke bodykit, with side skirts, rear apron, a rear spoiler and large air intakes.
It comes in grey, with red and white stripes and 18-inch alloy wheels. There are further red details on the brake calipers, indicator surrounds and on the alloy wheels. It also comes with a sports exhaust and twin chrome tail pipes.
The production Mini JCW is still some way off though, with cars not expected to go on sale until early 2015.
