Interest in Honda's family hatchback remains consistent among buyers considering the A-Class. While we prefer the Type R hot hatch version, there's still a lot to like about the regular Civic, including lots of standard kit and a big boot. It's substantially cheaper than the A-Class, as you might expect, but that's noticeable through its interior quality and infotainment system.

The A-Class is the entry point into Mercedes' expansive model range, so it's perhaps only natural that buyers might also consider one of the brand's best-selling models, the C-Class. Like the A-Class, the C-Class faces stiff competition from its Audi and BMW contemporaries, and while it's not a class-leading executive saloon, it does offer a smart interior and a good amount of standard kit.

The Q2 is Audi's smallest SUV, so buyers seeking something small, practical and premium might well be drawn to it. Like the rest of Audi's model range, it features a beautifully crafted interior, tidy handling and excellent resale values. Interest in the Q2 increases over time but not by much.
