The new Ford Edge concept has been revealed at the motor show in Los Angeles, giving a strong indication to the look of the car bound for Europe.
The Edge will become the third SUV in Ford's European line-up, sitting above the Fiesta-based Ecosport and the medium-sized Kuga.
Ford has confirmed that the production version of the show car will be offered in Europe, but has not precise about the timing of its arrival, saying only that it will go on sale 'by 2017'.
As well as giving an indication of the production car's looks, the Edge Concept also showcases a selection of its technology. It comes with a push-button parking system that can be operated inside or outside of the car; the Edge can park itself or drive out of a perpendicular space without anyone in the vehicle.
Ford has also updated its Active Grille Shutters, which automatically open and close to optimise engine temperature and aerodynamics.
The Edge's interior gets an instrument panel wrapped in hand-stitched leather, and a 10-inch touchscreen.
