Dealers: the good - part 2
* Readers spill the beans * The good, bad and the ugly * How does your dealer rate?...
Toyota
'Not so much a dealer but a manufacturer. I bought a car with a two-year dealer service plan. The dealer went bust, so I expected to be left with a defunct service plan.
'I contacted Toyota and the service plan was sorted at its expense - now that's what I call customer care. I was just one of many people that had been affected.
'Toyota then suggested we contact the dealer in Bromsgrove, who were very helpful and accommodating I would recommend them.'

Toyota
'After my experience with Fiat, I am now somewhat reluctantly going to buy a Toyota IQ. Pity because I really liked the Fiat 500. But I have owned a Toyota for 10 years in the past and have always had exceptionally honest service from them. It's not just the car, it's also the after-sales service that matters.'

Volkswagen
'Our dealer, Croydon Volkswagen, has been superb in every way. Far better than the Ford dealer who struggled to rectify the faults we had with our '02-plate Ford Mondeo. We now have a 55-plate VW Golf 2.0 TDI, which has been fantastically reliable and a generally excellent car. VW has been efficient, friendly, professional and a clean dealership.'

Volkswagen
'I bought a VW Touran from Gilbert Lawton VW in Macclesfield, Cheshire, in 2007.
The salesman I dealt with was very good. He was courteous, friendly and provided the information I wanted. He arranged a test drive, and put up with me visiting the dealership several times to see the Touran before committing to purchase.
'The icing on the cake was that I was able to negotiate 3000 off the list price with no nonsense from the salesman ("I need to go and speak to my manager" etc). So, my sales experience was good. Servicing at Gilbert Lawton, however, is pricey, so I take the car to a VW dealer in Leek, Staffordshire and save nearly 100 per service!'

Volvo
'I've owned a couple of Volvos and found the service costs were very high. I used the agent in Bristol but that was then closed down (I did complain about them). The service from Volvo GB, though, was excellent. Anything that needed to be done under warranty was done without any quibble. After the warranty ran out, I used Elite Motors to service my Volvos and they were very good indeed they provided a courtesy car free of charge, which Volvo in Bristol did not.'
