Dacia Sandero 1.0 TCe 100 Bi-Fuel Expression

Excluding slow and very basic quadricycles, such as the Citroën Ami, the Dacia Sandero continues to have the distinction of being the cheapest new car on sale in the UK. True, it’s not as cheap as when it was first introduced in the UK in 2013, but it still undercuts similar-sized rivals by thousands (the Renault Clio among them), without showing signs of corners being cut.
In fact, this third-generation Sandero is thoroughly modern in most respects. Sharing the Clio’s underpinnings, it’s comfy and handles tidily enough. And while the Sandero isn’t as smart as the Clio inside, it’s functional and offers lots of space for occupants and luggage.

The Bi-Fuel engine option that we recommend gives the potential for low running costs. It can operate on either petrol or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the latter being slightly less economical but significantly cheaper to buy. As a bonus, the engine generates more power and produces less CO2 when it’s running on LPG.
The main caveat is that the Sandero’s Euro NCAP safety rating is poor. Otherwise, it’s a far more well-rounded car than you might expect for its wallet-friendly price tag.
