Car of the Year Awards 2024: Best family SUV for value
Cars in this class must obviously provide sufficient space for families. However, the best also offer a comfortable ride and tidy handling, and blend gutsy performance with wallet-friendly costs...
Citroën C5 Aircross 1.2 PureTech 130 Plus
From cars to mobile phones, no matter where you look, prices seem to be going up and up. It’s only logical, then, that we all want to make sure we’re getting value for our money. Now, it’s true that the Kia Sportage offers just that, but if you want to spend a little less on a new family SUV, you can’t get better than the Citroën C5 Aircross.
While the entry-level Plus version costs a couple of hundred pounds more than the equivalent MG HS, the C5 Aircross more than compensates by offering plusher interior materials and lots of standard equipment, including dual-zone air conditioning, LED headlights, parking sensors all round and a rear-view camera.
It doesn’t drive as well as the Sportage and isn’t as classy inside, but the C5 Aircross’s interior is still very practical, and its wafty ride makes it comfier than the HS. Our recommended 1.2-litre petrol engine is lively yet efficient, too.
