1. Lower load floor

Available in two lengths and two roof heights^[2], the All-New Ford Transit Custom offers up to 9.0m³of load space^[3] and a payload of up to 1327kg^[4]. But, when it comes to loading and unloading your van on a daily basis, ease of access is just as important as sheer volume of cargo space.

That’s why Ford’s engineers utilised the new architecture of the All-New Transit Custom to offer wide-opening side and rear doors, along with a lower cargo floor height than any previous Transit Custom – making getting things in and out of your van easier and quicker than ever before.

2. Lower roof height

The All-New Ford Transit Custom’s platform also let Ford’s engineers lower the roof height on ‘low roof’ (H1) models to under two metres. This means you can take your All-New Ford Transit Custom into almost any multi-storey car park in the country, helping you make deliveries to offices, shopping centres or residential buildings easier and more efficient.

3. Mobile Office Pack

Today, modern van drivers need more than just a comfortable seat and a cupholder to get the job done. With the optional Cab as Office Pack, the All-New Ford Transit Custom acts as a fully functional and fully connected office on-the-go. The innovative tilting steering wheel becomes a perch for a laptop or tablet, letting you catch up on emails between jobs. It even turns into a table from where you can eat lunch.

Elsewhere in the cab, a wireless charging pad and three USB-C ports keep all your devices topped-up throughout the day, while the high-definition 13in touchscreen is your portal to Ford’s next-generation SYNC 4 infotainment system. This comes with 5G connectivity as standard, meaning you and your workforce will always be online and contactable, even when on site.

4. Cross-cab access

Speaking of the cab, the tilting steering wheel isn’t the only clever innovation to help boost productivity. After analysing feedback from thousands of customers, Ford realised it needed a solution to make the cab more accessible from all angles.

So, using the All-New Transit Custom’s bespoke platform, Ford’s engineers moved the gear selector to the steering column, integrated the electronic handbrake into the dashboard, moved the passenger airbag to the roof, and created a totally flat floor. The result: a convenient walk-through cab making access from one side of the vehicle to the other easier than ever.

5. Delivery Assist

When it comes to deliveries and collections, time is everything. So, to help make every single stop faster and more efficient, the All-New Ford Transit Custom will soon be available to order with optional Delivery Assist automation on automatic models^[5]. This allows micro-actions like closing the windows, locking the doors and turning on the hazard lights to be pre-programmed to activate as soon as you hop out of your van – saving you precious time on each and every delivery.

6. Pro Power Onboard

With Pro Power Onboard, the All-New Ford Transit Custom can quite literally power your business to success. Available as an optional extra on the Transit Custom Plug-In hybrid and upcoming all-electric E-Transit Custom, Pro Power Onboard allows you to power work tools via three 2.3kW plug sockets – two in cargo area and one in the cabin – without the need for an external generator.

Pro Power Onboard can connect to almost any power tool or device. For example, you can continuously power a 2kW table saw for more than three hours, using up just 10 per cent of the E-Transit Custom’s battery in the process, while laptops and laser printers can be powered with ease.

7. Ford Pro™ Upfit Integration

More than half of Ford Pro™ commercial vehicles sold in Europe receive some kind of conversion, with the majority of modifications requiring integration into the vehicle’s electrical system – including the addition of controls and displays. That can be challenging and time-consuming for converters to fit and drivers to operate.

The Ford Pro™ Upfit Integration System helps streamline the process and does away with the need for drilling into the dashboard and adding clunky bolt-on switchgear by adding an interface module that ensures that any modification has seamless connection to the All-New Ford Transit Custom’s electrical system. This also enables beacons, floodlights and other ancillary equipment to be controlled via the 13in SYNC 4 touchscreen.
