8. Jaguar XKR
* Best 10 cars of the show * What was our favourite? * Why did it stand out?...
Jaguar introduced an extensively revised XK at the Detroit show - and it breathed some life into the entire range.
The new models are set to go on sale in the spring and feature new engines, gearbox and chassis changes, along with styling revisions.
The revised range will get Jaguar's the new 5.0-litre V8 engines that replace the 4.2 V8, opening the door for a high-performance XKR version of the car.
The XKR is powered by the 505bhp supercharged V8 engine and has firmer suspension and quicker steering than the rest of the respective range, an electronic differential to improve agility and stability, with electronic 'adaptive' suspension to improve body control and give the cars a more sporting character.
Other XK changes
The XK also gets the rotary gear selector from the XF.
XK styling revisions include new bumpers, side mirrors, rear lamps and chrome detailing.
Cabin changes introduce heated and cooled seats, improved door trim and a more luxurious look to the switches, instruments and headlining.
There is also a luxury Portfolio version of the XK.
Prices have yet to be announced.
