Independent garage servicing: all cars 0-20yrs
Overall, car owners told us they were happier with independent garages than with franchised workshops, with none of the brands rated scoring less than 90% for servicing satisfaction. The average for independents was 92.6%, compared with 87.1% for franchised garages.
Suzuki owners are the most satisfied, rating independent garages highly in all three categories. Citroën owners are also happier with independent garages, helping the brand to rank eight places higher than it does for franchised servicing, with Mercedes-Benz leaping 21 places up the table for the same reason.
Most owners of luxury cars are happier with independents, too, BMW being an exception; its bottom-four finish is due to owners questioning the value for money offered by independent outlets compared with franchised workshops.
