With a comfortable ride, a really luxurious interior, superb refinement and a competitive range, the Range Rover Electric is shaping up to be a brilliant electric SUV. It's even great off-road, as a Range Rover should be. It's just a pity it's so expensive; there are much cheaper rivals that are also really plush.

The trim

Autobiography adds some luxury in the boot by giving you an electrically folding parcel shelf, and a boot floor that can be propped up to act as a back rest if you’re sitting on the dropped tailgate. You also get 24-way electrically adjustable massaging front seats.

The engine

The 345bhp D350 is the same basic 3.0-litre engine as the D300 but adds a bit more grunt, so it's capable of 0-62mph in 7.1sec. It's the entry-level engine if you opt for the long wheelbase. Just be aware that the entry-level X7 40d diesel is quite a bit quicker for less money.
