The Jaguar F-Type Convertible makes a great noise and the more expensive versions offer exhilarating pace, but its chief rivals are better sports cars

Trim: SVR

The top-spec SVR gains an aerodynamic body kit with carbon fibre rear wing, lightweight exhaust, SVR seats and a front parking aid. Only available with the 5.0-litre 575 V8.,

Engine: 5.0 Supercharged V8

With 567bhp, the SVR has performance approaching that of a supercar. It sounds terrific under acceleration and four-wheel drive helps tame the beast. It’s seriously pricey, though, and there are a host of supercars that are more rewarding to drive.
