Review

The Ford Focus stands out as the best driver’s car in the class, with handling that truly entertains. It's complemented by a fine ride that almost matches a Volkswagen Golf for comfort and passenger space very nearly on a par with the Skoda Octavia. It's mainly the iffy interior quality and slightly lacklustre performance that mark it down.

Trim: ST-Line X

All the ST-Line features plus bigger 18in wheels, power-folding door mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, privacy glass, automatic wipers, part-leather seats with six-way electric adjustment on the driver’s side, heated front seats, passenger height and lumbar adjustment, dual-zone climate control and an 8.0in infotainment screen with sat-nav. It’s a bit pricey but worth considering if you can stretch to it.

Engine: 1.5 EcoBoost 182

It’s certainly more potent than the 1.0 Ecoboost 125, so a better choice if you’re regularly carrying a car full of family and luggage, but considering that it has 180bhp, it lacks the fizz of a VW Golf 1.5, which has less power.
