The Audi RS3 isn’t the sharpest driving machine, but few hot hatches can match its all-weather pace and high quality interior. It’s also ridiculously rapid with an addictive exhaust note that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The only real issue is the frustrating automatic gearbox brought about by a 2019 facelift.

Trim: RS7

This is a standalone trim and comes very generously equipped. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, climate control, leather sports seats, and Alcantara steering wheel, alloy wheels, Bluetooth, sat-nav and USB connections are just some of the long list of standard luxuries you’ll find on board.

Engine: 2.5 TFSI RS 3 Quattro

Audi’s five-cylinder petrol is extremely powerful and makes a brilliant noise when pushed hard. It pulls from low revs, but doesn’t mind being revved out, while dialling it back will see fairly acceptable fuel economy for such a performance-orientated car. That said, it’s no eco model, and running costs for private and company buyers (if there are any) will be high.
