It comes with plenty of toys, including 17in alloy wheels, power-folding mirrors, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit and a 10.1in touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio, Bluetooth, built-in sat-nav and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring.

It’s a strong engine with plenty of torque, meaning that it pulls hard through the rev range and covers the 0-62mph sprint at around the same pace as the 35 TFSI petrol. Of course, the main draw will be that its official efficiency figures promise around 63mpg.
