Deal of the Day: Save more than £5000 on a new Volkswagen Golf
The Volkswagen Golf has long been a well-established family car, and you could save a packet on one with our deals...

If you’ve never owned a Volkswagen Golf, it’s almost certain that you know someone who has. That’s because, ever since it arrived in the UK more than 50 years ago, it’s been one of the most popular models on sale.
For that reason, there’s a big chance a Golf is high up on your list if you’re in the market for a new family car – and you could save a packet on one with our free online New Car Deals service.
- Save £4455 on a new VW Golf 1.5 eTSI MHEV Black Edition DSG
- Save £4835 on a new VW Golf 1.5 TSI Match
- Save £5234 on a new VW Golf 1.5 eTSI MHEV R-Line DSG
- Save £5675 on a new VW Golf 1.5 eTSI MHEV Match DSG
There’s a version of the Golf for everyone, with petrol mild hybrid, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines available.
At the entry point of the range, there are two 1.5-litre petrol options, with either 113bhp or 148bhp. Both come assisted by mild hybrid power – which means a small electric motor works alongside the engine to keep your fuel bills low.
If you’re conscious about keeping your running costs to a minimum, then the less potent 113bhp option might work best for you. When you specify that engine with mid-spec Match trim, you can save up to £4835, and you get plenty of kit including 17in alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, adaptive cruise control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and parking aids.

Stepping up to the 148bhp engine with that same trim will save you up to £5675, and you get a bit of extra punch for your money.
If you want a slightly more engaging drive, then you could step up to R-Line trim, which adds sporty styling, premium sports seats, dynamic steering, different drive modes and sports suspension – and that’ll save you up to £5234 with the 148bhp mild hybrid petrol engine.
For a saving of up to £4455, you can have your Golf in top-spec Black Edition guise, which (as you might expect) gets black styling across its 18in alloy wheels and exterior and an illuminated VW badge on the nose.
Inside, the Golf gets a 10.25in digital instrument cluster alongside a 12.9in infotainment touchscreen, which houses most of the controls. These can be distracting to use, so you’ll be pleased to know that there are physical buttons on the steering wheel for interactions with the digital instruments.
