The New Special Edition Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring, more power, more traction and more money, but is the Vauxhall worth its £22.295 price tag considering you can buy a new Audi A4 for less money. The Standard Corsa VXR Costs £18,640 so the price tag may be just a little bit out of reach to the younger drivers who Vauxhall think this type of car may appeal to most.
The Vauxhall VXR Nurgburgring has an extra 13bhp over the standard Vauxhall Corsa VXR which takes the overall power to 202bhp which is quite impressive from Vauxhall's small 1.6 litre engine. Figures released so far by Vauxhall show that the Corsa VXR Nurburgring will reach 0-60 in 6.5secs (standard Vauxhall Corsa VXR 0-62 in 6.8secs) and a top speed of 143mph (standard vauxhall Corsa VXR 140mph). The small increases come from Vauxhalls improvements to the Turbo, sports exhaust and engine management. Something that was of interest was that all the above power figures for the Corsa VXR Nurgburgring come from it running on the pricey unleaded petrol found at your local garage, high 98-octane petrol.
As well as the increases to Vauxhall Corsa power the main changes that will help justify the increase in price are the changes Vauxhall has made to the handling and brakes. The Vauxhall VXR Nurburgring special edition has been fitted with a mechanical multi plate limited slip differential which will help control under steer and traction than on the standard Corsa.
Vauxhall has also fitted the Corsa VXR Nurburgring with special custom built Bilstein springs and dampers that lower the front of the car by 20mm and the rear of the car by 15mm, Vauxhall tuned the new suspension system on Germanys world famous Nurburgring. New Brakes have been fitted To the Special edition Corsa VXR Nurburgring which are lighter by up to 30% and offer better stopping power while tweaks to the stability, ABS and traction control units also help keep the Corsa VXR on the road. Vauxhall have added some small exterior changes to special edition like Nurburgring Logos, grey high gloss alloy wheels and the triangle shaped exhaust makes way for a new dual stainless system.
