Vauxhall Ampera continues to make history in driving test scene

Shortly after becoming the first electric vehicle to be used in a UK-based practical driving test, more history has been made involving the Vauxhall Ampera and an overjoyed new driver.

Navdeep Singh, from Hull, was given a task that no other motorist before him had ever been given – attempting to gain his driver's licence while behind the wheel of the cutting edge extended-range electric vehicle.

However, Mr Singh's skills on the road, coupled with the expertise and motoring knowledge shared by the RED Driving School, appeared to pay off for the 18-year-old.

This is because the teenager was able to pass the practical driving test with flying colours and obtain his sought after driver's licence.

Commenting on the magnificent achievement, Ian McIntosh, the chief executive of the RED Driving School, said: "We're thrilled to have taught the country's first learner driver to pass the practical driving test in an electric vehicle."

Mr McIntosh added that he feels it is important for young drivers to gain as much experience as possible handling the latest vehicle technologies at the earliest possible opportunity. The Vauxhall Ampera and RED Driving School partnership helps to achieve this goal.

The RED Driving School chief executive explained: "The Ampera is a leading edge car and reflects the dynamic nature of RED Driving School. As well as being easy to drive, the Ampera offers great efficiency and good all round performance.”

Naturally, Paul Adler, the fleet marketing and motability manager at Vauxhall, was also pleased to see the Vauxhall Ampera making headlines for all the right reasons.

He pointed out: "We're delighted that Navdeep has passed his test in the Ampera, and look forward to many new drivers opting to drive more environmentally friendly vehicles."

As well as the Vauxhall Ampera, young motorists using the RED Driving School to try and obtain their driver's licence can also experience life behind the wheel of the well-known vehicle manufacturer's economical supermini, the Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi ecoFLEX.
