The Range Rover Evoque has been named as the "greenest vehicle" at the Green Apple Awards in the smaller SUVs and 4x4 category.
Members of the Midland Group or Motoring Writers (MGMW), who voted in the awards, praised the model for its "stunning looks" and pointed out that it is also easy to drive on a day-to-day basis.
They added that the Evoque, which has proved popular since its recent launch, "remains a car that turns every drive into an event".
Jeremy Hicks, managing director, Jaguar Land Rover UK said the company was "delighted" to have picked up the accolade, its second success in the Green Apple Awards.
"Combining strong residual values and highly competitive cost of ownership, with ground-breaking contemporary styling and engineering makes it rewarding and practical for everyday driving, and a genuine Land Rover thanks to its excellent all-terrain abilities."
He noted that the environmental award indicated that Land Rover's class leading application of lightweight materials and innovative construction methods are working, providing significant gains in both fuel efficiency and emissions.
