The Prius family is about to grow so Toyota has decided the time has come to let the Prius range become a Standalone brand. Toyota is ready to bring in a seven seater Prius, a concept vehicle called the Prius C and a Prius Hybrid sports Coupe.
The Toyota Prius seven seater will be in UK showrooms early next year and the other two in the next three years.
The images of the new concept cars show what they may look like on release, you may be familiar with the Prius C Concept which was shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January of this year. Since the Detroit show the new C concept has taken on more of a conservative look so gone are the blade headlights, unique LED lights and bold indentations running down the flank of the car.
Toyota will build a small compact five door hatch which will make it easier for new customers to enjoy the Prius brand and make it more competitive with the smaller hybrids like the Honda CR-Z.
The new Toyota Prius C concept with its compact dimensions, lower weight and a 1.5 litre petrol engine with electric motor makes it the most efficient Prius yet with early rumors of fuel economy figures standing at 80mpg plus.
If you think the Prius brand has been a little bit dull and not very exciting well you are not alone, the brand has been crying out for a sportier influence for years and now it looks like Toyota have taken note and come up with a two door performance hybrid which is earmarked for 2014. The Toyota Hybrid Sports Coupe is based on the next Lexus GS which will be rear wheel drive and feature a new plug in hybrid with lithium-ion batteries.
Also set its debut in 2014 will be a SUV type vehicle which comes from Hybrid X Concept first seen at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. Sources say the SUV should be the most efficient vehicle in its class if it features Toyotas latest Hybrid Synergy Drive system or Toyotas new plug-in drive train system.
